Subsets of a line
A line segment (or segment) is a set of points
consisting of two points on a line and all the points on the
line between the two points

B C
The two fixed points at the end of a line segment are
called Endpoints
A line segment is named by its endpoints. The
points can be interchanged in the name.

B C
This is line segment BC or CB
In symbols:
BC CB
A ray is a part of the line which consists of a fixed
point called the ENDPOINT and the set of all points on
one side of the endpoint.

A B
The endpoints is the starting point and the arrow
determine the direction of the ray.
WHAT IS
ANGLE?
ANG
An angle is defined as a figure formed by two rays having the
LE
same endpoint not lying on the same line. It is denoted by the
symbol ∠.

• The two rays EB and ET are called the sides

• Their common endpoint (point E) is called the vertex
• The angles can be called ∠E, ∠ BET or ∠TEB.
