Review of Lesson:

Kinds of Angles
Angles are formed by two intersecting rays. It can be classified
according to its measure. The kinds of angles are acute, right, obtuse,
and straight.
1. Without using a protractor, what kind of angles are shown below?

2. Elicit

2. Which of the following illustrates a right angle? Choose the letter of

your answer/s.

3. Without using a protractor, how can you say that a given angle is a
right angle?
3. Engage
Have you seen these lines at your home? School? Or in your
neighborhood? What do we call these lines in mathematics?

The teacher will present a short video clip about Parallel and
Perpendicular Lines song

See link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3AOoLbA3us

Intersecting Lines are lines that meet at exactly one point called the
point of intersection.
Perpendicular Lines are lines that intersect and form right angles.
Parallel Lines are coplanar lines that do not intersect.

EXAMPLES
1. Identify if the following figures illustrate parallel lines or
perpendicular lines.

2. A chocolate vendor is designing a new chocolate box as shown at

the right for their Valentine’s day special. Describe each pair of edges
4. Explore as parallel, perpendicular, or
neither.

3. Refer to the figure at the right and identify whether each of the
following statement is TRUE or FALSE.

Solutions:
1. a. Parallel lines
b. Parallel lines
c. Perpendicular lines

2. a. Parallel
b. Perpendicular
c. Neither. The lines are noncoplanar. They are skew lines.

3. a. TRUE
b. TRUE
c. FALSE. They are skew lines.
The teacher will present set of activities, then the students can
choose which of the following activities they think can within the
allotted time frame. They will be given 5 minutes to answer.

ACTIVITY 1:
Direction: Identify whether the following figures illustrate parallel
lines, perpendicular lines, or neither.
_______________1. addition sign
_______________2. equal sign
_______________3. subtraction sign
_______________4. the guide lines on the blackboard
_______________5. the hands of the clock when it is 3 ‘o clock

ACTIVITY 2:
Direction: Describe whether each pair of edges is parallel,
5. Explain perpendicular, or neither.
_______________1. AB∧CD
_______________2. GH ∧EF
_______________3. BD∧ AG
_______________4. AB∧ AC
_______________5. AG∧CE

ACTIVITY 3:
Direction: Draw three pictures of real-life objects that shows
parallel or perpendicular lines.

ACTIVITY 4:
In our life, we encounter a lot of people. But, as the saying goes,
“people come and go”. What are the things do you consider whether
you will continue your interaction with others like intersecting lines,
or just avoid meeting them like parallel lines? Share your thoughts.

Direction: Fill in the blank with the correct word(s) being described.

• ______________________ are coplanar lines that neither meet nor

intersect.

6. Elaborate
• ______________________ are lines that intersect and form right
angles.

The teacher would show pictures of Pangdan Hanging Bridge, the

longest hanging bridge in Leyte and ask some questions.

Questions:
1. Have you been to Pangdan Hanging Bridge?
2. What can say about the Pangdan Hanging Bridge?
3. Can you identify the parallel and perpendicular lines in the
hanging bridge?
Direction: Read each question and choose the letter that
corresponds to the correct answer.

______ 1. What do you call the lines which do not meet nor intersect?
A. Concurrent Lines C. Parallel Lines
B. Intersecting Lines D. Perpendicular Lines

For numbers 2-3, refer to the given figure at the right.

______ 2. Which of the following pairs of segments

is parallel?

7. Evaluate ______ 3. Which of the following pairs of segments is perpendicular?

______ 4. Which of the following statements is true about AB and CD ?

A. They are parallel.
B. They are perpendicular.
C. They are intersecting.
D. They are neither parallel nor
perpendicular.

______ 5. Which of the following illustrates perpendicular lines?

A. asterisk C. pedestrian lane
B. letter X D. Logo of the Philippine Red Cross

Study:
8. Extend/Expand Angles Formed by Parallel Lines cut by Transversal Line
