You could be sentenced to death.

You could leave the class by the permission of teacher.
Suggestion You could talk to your teacher.
Request Can I use your phone. Could you lend me your pen.

Modal verbs Usage e.g.


Possibility It may rain tomorrow. It might rain tomorrow.
Polite request May I have your coat. Might I use your coat.
Permission You may leave the hall now. You might come in.
May/ Might Prohibition You may not enter the office unless you have your
card.
Note: the verb ‘might’ is stronger than ‘may’.

Obligation You must take your test at 2:00 a.m.
Prohibition She must not leak the secret.
Must Prediction Phone is ringing that must be Sara.
Certainty Maria is not in the class. She must be in
library because she has exam.

Note: When the verb 'must ‘ is used, it shows law enforcement.

There are delicious foods in Bokhara.
