A. ARTICULATION
- This refers to how distinctly you
utter words when you speak
- Good articulation means you can
speak with clarity, say the words
correctly, and produce speech
sounds clearly
TO SAY YOUR WORDS CORRECTLY,
KEEP THESE IN MIND:

1. Apply good grammar.

2. Pronounce the words
properly.
3. Avoid using fillers.
5

B. MODULATION
- Voice modulation, which is a derivative of
vocal variety, refers to the elements that
enable the speaker to change his or her pitch,
volume, and tone in harmonic progression and
improve his or her overall voice quality
- It is a skill that can be acquired and developed
through proper training

C. STAGE PRESENCE
- Means that the speaker is not only
physically present, but his presence is
also strongly felt by his audience
- A good stage presence essentially
engages the audience in the
performance
7

D. FACIAL EXPRESSIONS,
GESTURES, AND MOVEMENTS

- The speaker uses body language to

achieve his or her purpose
- Facial expressions: The combined
movements of the eyes, eyebrows, and
mouth can powerfully express the
emotions of the speaker

D. FACIAL EXPRESSIONS,
GESTURES, AND MOVEMENTS
HAND GESTURES
- For a small group: natural and minimal
- For a large crowd: must be ostentatious
- Excessive hand gestures compensate for the
lesser facial expressions when the audience is
bigger

D. FACIAL EXPRESSIONS,
GESTURES, AND MOVEMENTS
VISUAL VARIETY

- In public speaking, you cannot be nailed

to where you are standing as it may
cause the audience to feel sleepy
- Walking across the stage can help solve
this problem as the listeners follow your
movement
10

E. RAPPORT WITH THE

AUDIENCE
- Rapport means “a relationship, especially
one of mutual trust and harmony”
- The speaker must be the one to initiate the
“trust relationship”
- Establishing rapport takes place before,
during, and even after your presentation
