Technology
• It is the application of
scientific knowledge for
practical purposes, especially
in industry.
• It is also a machinery and
equipment developed from the
application of scientific
knowledge.

Wearable Technology
• These can be worn like an
accessory as they are small
and lightweight, but durable
enough to be put in the pocket
of your pants or bags.

Pedometer designed to detect vertical movement at the hip

and so measure the number of steps and provide
an estimate of distance walked.

a small electronic device that you wear in or behind

Hearing Aid your ear. It makes some sounds louder so that a

person with hearing loss can listen, communicate,
and participate more fully in daily activities.

Google Glass device that resembles a pair of eyeglasses and
displays information directly in the user's field of
vision

Phones
• A mobile phone, cellular phone, cell
phone, cellphone or handphone,
sometimes shortened to simply mobile,
cell or just phone, is a portable
telephone that can make and receive
calls over a radio frequency link while the

Devices:

Blackberry
Blackberry has a unique keypad similar to that of a
typewriter. It became a hit as it enables real-time
push e-mail communication because it has built-
in Bluetooth and a wireless device

Devices:

Ipad/Tablets
Tablets have similar features
with an iPhone and Android
phone

Devices:

PDA
Personal Digital Assistant
As cell phones back then can only be used for call and text,
PDA became a handy device in the late 1990s. It allows users
to electronically organize data (contacts, appointments, etc.)

CGI
Applied Digital Technology:

Computer-generated Imagery
• CGI can create special effects that look
like actual footage. It can enhance an
image to make it realistic through the use
of width, height, and depth.
• It can also be used for restoration of old or
classic films.
• CGI films can be effective learning tools
as they can stimulate one’s attention and
interest.

Applied Digital Technology:

Hologram
• A hologram image is intangible and
transparent.
• It can project the picture similar to a
three-dimensional object through the use
of laser beams. It is used as a perfect
model in studying human anatomy or
astronomy since it can create a simulation
of an actual environment

Applied Digital Technology:

3D Environment
3D Interactive environments are often referred to as virtual
reality or interactive 3D and have a figurative appearance.

Applied Digital Technology:

3-D PRINTING
• In 1984, Chuck Hull of 3-D Systems
Corporations pioneered a prototype
system using the process known as stereo
lithography.
• In this process, layers are added by curing
photopolymers with ultraviolet light
layers.
• It is also referred to as ADDITIVE
MANUFACTURING.

Other devices and equipment:

Camera
• Digital cameras have features that
can enhance the quality of photos
and can adjust the angle as desired,
so that even amateur photographers
can take good photos.

shs.mapua.edu.ph
Other devices and equipment:

Projectors
• OHP Projector.
• It is an office equipment that
can enlarge the image on the
transparency and display it
on a screen by means of an
overhead mirror and bright
light

Other devices and equipment:

Projectors
• LCD Projector is similar
to OHP, but instead of
using transparency, instead
is connected to a computer
and directly displays the
exact

Other devices and equipment:

Photocopier
• is an equipment used to
produce documents with
text or images on a paper.
It is also known as copier
or copy machine.

Ubiquitous Learning

shs.mapua.edu.ph
Ubiquitous Learning
• U-Learning is any environment that allows any mobile learning
devices to access the learning and teaching contents via wireless
networks in any location at any time.
• M-learning - “learning that takes place via wireless devices such as
mobile phones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) or laptop
computers”
- (Dochev & Hristov, 2006)
