MAN
Narrative
• The Invisible Man is a 2020 fiction horror thriller film written and
directed by Leigh Whannell.
• Genre: HORROR/THRILLER.
• STORY: Cecilia's is in abusive relationship.When she leave him, her
ex-boyfriend fakes his death and becomes invisible to stalk her.
• She begins experiencing strange events and decides to hunt down the
truth on her own.
NARRATIVE

• Theme: Victim’s life as a metaphor for


gaslighting and abuse.
• CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER: as the film
narrates the story from the order of what is
happened.
• Stream of consciousness: In the film we can
understand that what the main character
Cecelia is thinking by what she sees and
observe and the immediate reactions.
• Truth: The movie shows the violence and
abusive nature that many domestic abuse
victims experience in their lifes.(is also a part
which reflects the society)
PLOT:
• Introduction: Starting scene shows a beautiful seaside mansion
where during the midnight with deep courage and deeply
traumatised, Cecilia Kass, sneaks away from her boyfriend seaside
mansion and runs away with her friend, Emily.

• Rising action: Then things start happening which make her think that
this is more than just a feeling.After discovering more, she finds the
truth that Adrian is not dead and being invisibly stalking her.

• Climax: As she is admitted to a mental institute for check up, she


was locked in the basement where she attempts to suicide.
• Continues with a fight sequence.

• Falling action: Police officers find Cecilia’s ex tied up as a prisoner


in his basement, showing that Tom imprisoned his brother and
Adrian is also just an victim.

• Resolution: She kills Adrian by wearing the invisiblity suit and by


slitting his throat with a knife.

How has this film
affected me
I enjoyed watching this film which gave me a totally horror thriller and
mystery feel.This is the movie I will remember for a long time specially
because of its brilliant direction.The characters, the dialouges, their
acting, the story telling and the narrative technique is just awesome.
From the opening scene to the ending, director presented the story very
well which threatens and thrill me as an audience.
