• A malaria-free Zambia
Goals
• To eliminate local malaria infection and disease in Zambia by 2021.
• To maintain malaria free status and prevent reintroduction due to
importation of malaria in
areas where the disease has been eliminated.
OBJECTIVES

• To clear infections and interrupt transmission of Plasmodium


falciparum parasites.

• To document infection, illness, severe disease and mortality


burden reduction in districts, provinces and nationally and
assess progress towards elimination.
OBJECTIVES CONTD.
• To develop, strengthen, and maintain national political support,
technical and operational capacity and financial resources for
malaria elimination.

• To prevent the re-emergence of malaria transmission due to


importation in malaria-free districts.
