Objectives:

What is a sentence?
• A sentence is a group of words that
expresses a complete thought.
• A sentence has two parts – the subject and
the predicate.
What is a subject?
• A subject tells who or what the sentence is
about.
Example:
The students are listening carefully.
More examples:

1. The teacher gave the students homework.

2. Mark and John played basketball at recess.

3. They painted the classroom blue.


What is a predicate?
• A predicate tells what the subject does or
is
Example:
