INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson the student should be able to:
Explore safety measures at the workstation .

List two (2) measures that will help eliminate workstation


hazard .

Illustrate various ways to position yourself or sit


properly at workstation.

ICT Environment:
The negative impact of using ICT tools at
the workstation:
A fire outbreak is an example of a hazard at the workstation.
• Electric shock is also an example of a hazard at the workstation.
• Dropping of electronic devices, is an example of hazards at the
workstation.
• Fire burn, is an example of hazards at the workstation.
Measures that will help eliminate
workstation hazards with eyesight:

• The workstation should be clean at all cost.


• The ICT tools should be placed in their appropriate positions.
• Place the monitor in its proper position.
• The adjustment of the chair should be at the level of the monitor.
• Always adjust the brightness of the monitor to the standard level.

Ways to use the monitor properly:
Place the monitor in a location that that eliminate glare on the screen.
Place the monitor at a right angle or away from the windows and task
lights.
Place the monitor directly in front of you.
• Place the top line of the screen at or slightly (0-30 degrees) below eye
level.
Class Exercise:
1. Identify two (2) measures to help eliminate workstation hazards.
2. Discuss one (1) way each to minimize these hazard risks, under the
following;
i. evaluating the display screen.
ii. adjusting the chair for comfort.
iii. avoiding potential slip and falls.
iv. repositioning devices.
Assignment:
1. State any one(1) safety measures at workstations.
2. Identify two(2) measures to help eliminate hazards and where they
cannot be eliminated.
3. Discuss two(2) ways to minimize the risk.
4. Write down one (1) way you will avoid slips and fall at the computer
lab.
