ROTATION OF THE EARTH
A. Content Standards
The learners demonstrate understanding of the earth’s rotation and revolution.

B. Performance Standards
The learners should be able to design an emergency and prepared plan and kit.

C. Learning Competencies/ Objectives (Write the LC code for each.)

Demonstrate rotation of the earth using a globe to explain day and night (S6ES-IVe-f-
5)
Objectives

Knowledge: Define what is rotation

Explain the cause of day and night

Skill: Illustrate a model that shows day and night

Attitude: Work cooperatively with the group

Set of Standards

• Arrange the chairs accordingly.

• Do not answer in chorus. Raise hands when you want to answer or
ask a question.
• Ask permission when going out of the classroom.

• Always wear face mask
• Sanitize your hands from time to time
• Observe physical distancing
• Refrain from touching with each other.
Motivation

• A warm-up exercise in a form of a

song (Children Love Science). All
students are required by the
teachers to follow the warm-up
exercise with energy and
enthusiasm.
Pre-activity

* We have here a globe and a flashlight.

(unlock the word globe)
*We need three volunteers to illustrate to us the
following:

1. Show us the correct direction on
how the earth rotates on its axis.
2. Explain what causes day and night.
3. What makes day ?
4. What makes night?

Group Activity Directions
• Group yourselves into four.
• Choose your leader.
• The leader gets the activity sheets and the
assessment card from the teacher.
• Go to your respective area assigned to you.
• Begin doing the activity following the group
standards.

1. Fill in the blank.

The light comes from the _______.
The light shines on our planet _______________.
Every day the earth _________ around its __________.
When the sun shines on us it is _________________.
When we face away from the sun it is _________________________.

Group D – Day and Night Activities

D. Analysis

• How many hours are there in one complete rotation or

one day?
• How many hours do you spend in school?
• How many hours do you spend at home?
• How many hours do you spend sleeping?
• What is the right amount of sleeping hours do children
need in order to be healthy?
• Is it good to stay awake during late night? Why?
• Why is sleeping in the right number of hours important?
E. Abstraction

• Rotation is the movement of the earth

on its axis.
• Rotation of the earth causes day and
night
• The teacher will allow learners also to
share some of their experience activities
during day and night.
F. Application
The teacher will provide different tasks for the learners using differentiated tasks.
Group A – Demonstrator

Instructions: Using a globe, demonstrate the movement of the earth.

Group B - Model

Instructions: Using a globe, demonstrate the causes of day and night

Group C - Researcher

Instructions: List down at least 3 activities during day and night time.

Group D - Actor

Instructions: Demonstrate at least 2 activities during day and night time.
