Mobile Devices REPORTED BY: MENCHIE BALAHAY, BEED-1 In my report I will be explaining on how much people uses their mobile devices and with a help of some research data we will understand more, it may help us on controlling the screen time we intake because to matter how amazing technology is there should always be limitation because too much of anything will always be a bad and dangerous thing. Based on the research survey of somScore ages 18 and above spend two hours and 51 minutes on their smart/mobile phones every day. But the report made based on the survey on 2012 – 2018 by eMarketer on april 2016 says that ages 18 and above spent 4 hours and 40 minutes on their smartphones. Still these surveys and reports on the textbooks we are now using are inconsistent because these days even young people aged 5 are spending more time looking on the screens of their gadgets rather than playing outside. For example, on the 80’s and 90’s e-mails are rather popular on sending messages to other people, but as it replaced the post offices on sending mails it too has been replaced by more convenient way of communication. Nowadays we only use e-mail as a mean of sending important documents online because mostly communications are held elsewhere, people now uses the likes of Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, etc. in conversing on real time. They even have video call on which you can see the person you are having a conversation with as if you were talking personally up front. As a result of this on growing technological advantages more and more people of all ages are taking up more time spent on their gadgets, not just 2 or 4 hours because some are even doing it almost 24/7 specially the gamers whose whole world seems to evolve on their screens and has taken comfort on the digital world rather on the real world. These results today are very alarming because most people cannot control themselves on how much time they are supposed to spend on their devices and this can cause an addiction and may even result on having a medical condition like anxiety and depression. To create awareness these surveys are conducted and introduced to the public. So I would like to encourage you, my fellow students to make a difference and let us spread awareness. That too much of everything is dangerous. Let us take our time to appreciate the world around us not just on the screens of our mobile devices. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING HAVE A GOOD DAY!
