Introduction
• The supply of electric power in the remote area is a challenging work due to high
cost for transmission line.

• To overcome this problem off-grid or stand alone power system is introduced.

• But the installation of conventional power system is expensive[1].

• The hybrid renewable power system is an alternative source to provide power in

aspect of environmental issues and green power. But, the only solar or wind power
system can’t be a reliable solution of smooth power supply. Therefore, a hybrid
power system should be comprised of small hydro plant, biomass, solar, wind and
fuel cell or battery.

• A solar and wind power system is considered as a research area in the present work.

Solar power
• Solar power is the generation of electricity from sunlight.

• This can be direct as with photovoltaic (PV) cell or indirect as with

concentrating solar power (CSP).

• A PV cell is a device that converts light into electric current using photoelectric
effect.

• Photovoltaics(PVs) are arrays of cells containing a solar photovoltaic material

that converts solar radiation into direct current electricity.

• When light falls on the active surface, the electrons in a solar cell becomes
energized in proportion to the intensity and spectral distribution (wavelength
distribution) of the light.

Wind power
• Wind power is an indirect solar power.
• Wind is basically caused by the solar energy irradiating the earth’s
surface.
• Wind results from air in motion and air in motion causes from a
pressure gradient.

Conclusions
• In the present work solar and wind power generation have been studied.
• The solar and wind power system in large scale may be a substitute of
conventional power plant.
• The developed mathematical model can generate a number of artificial
data within the experimental range which could be applied to artificial
neural network.
• The comparison graphs show the good agreement of the observed data
with mathematical model data in case of solar power.
