• Individual Coursework
There are two tasks of individually assessed coursework.
 Task 1
Students will be assigned a number of corporations from the FTSE350 and will be asked to identify and
collect data on their directors, according to the most recent annual report, and enter the data on an excel
file.
• The data that is required to be collected includes:
- Director name
- Director nationality
- Director gender
- Date director joined the board
- Director role
- Director DOB
- School name/location of Director.
- First degree, name of University.
- Second degree or MBA from?
- Company URL
- Company’s sector
- Company’s number of employees
- Company’s market capitalization on the day of data collection (record the date).

• Background reading for the first lecture & seminar is ch1 of any good
textbook.
• Recommended are:

FAQs

A1- What is the In- Class test ?

It is to examine students’ knowledge of the theories introduced to them during the


course and their ability to provide a critique of analysis using the relevant theories.
The test will have two parts:

PART A. Students will answer four methodological questions by choosing whether true or
false, while also justifying their answer in a short paragraph. Each answer counts for 10 points.
(4x10 points).

PART B. Students will provide short answers to two analytic questions.


They can choose among four questions each counting for 30 points. (2x30 points).

The in-class test will be held on week 9 during the lecture slot and represent 30% of the
final mark.
• 2-How we can submit the Coursework?
• An electronic PDF or Word file of your coursework MUST be submitted to the
Assessment area on CANVAS.

• 3-Do we have to submit hard copy of my work?



• No hard copy of your work is required even if you are based on campus.

• 4-Will I get feedback on my coursework?

• Yes, you will receive general class feedback and individual or group feedback.
Class feedback on the assessment, highlighting general strengths and weaknesses, will be
provided and uploaded to the Assessment area on Canvas, while individual or group
feedback will be available when the marks are released (up to 3 weeks after the
assessment is due).

Feedback will be released to you via Canvas.

You will not receive feedback or marks on the final assessment (Consulting
Report) until after the Board of Examiners have approved the course results.
Late Submissions
The penalty of Late Submissions is a reduction by 30% of the
mark awarded.
Submission will be accepted up to five working days after the
submission deadline - your work will be marked, the late

Task for Dubai students
• For Dubai students to follow the same pattern of tasks and assignments they have to be allocated a couple of
companies each.  
• In the welcome section of our course there are two spreadsheets that outline how this was done.  
• One with the FTSE350 data and one with the student allocation of companies for Dubai students.
• This is outlining TASK1 for them (due in week5).
• We allocated companies assigning a sector to each and allocating companies for students from the sector of
their group. 
• This way when they present as a group on week 11, they will be presenting information about their sector.
