topic
How The Water Cycle works on our Planet.

For who?
This lesson is meant for 8yr old kids
coursing 3rd grade , for the science subject in
elementary school.
Purpose /objective
The main goal is for each children to:

 Learn the important facts about the water cycle and how it works.
 Identify the stages in the water cycle process.
 Comprehend how each stage works and the reasons why they change.
 Memorize the important facts of the lesson.
01
Anticipatory Set
I will prepare a 45 min lesson with an interactive presentation
with all the facts about the water cycle process. On
presentation day, first, I will ask kids to stand up and play a
game called “Simon says” for a few minutes, so kids will
wake up, stretch themselves and get ready to receive the
lesson of the day. After we finish that little exercise, I will ask
them if they know what the lesson is about, in order to see
how much they know about the topic and also get their
attention.

input
In the next slides, I will show part of the important
information to be used in the presentation and also the
important facts about the water cycle process that kids
will learn. What they are, how they work, and the
reasons why they work that way.

modeling
Once the presentation is done students
will watch a video, to reinforce the
water cycle process before they start
practicing the information learned.
Check for Understanding
At this point I will ask some students to participate; in their
own words, they must explain to the rest of the class the water
cycle process. And if someone makes a mistake the rest of the
students can raise their hands and participate as well, to help
their friend.
Guided practice
Once kids finish participating they will make a water cycle bag with their
own hands, guided step by step in the process by the teacher; this craft
activity will help them memorize in a fun way and understand better the
stages of the water cycle, and at the end of the class they will be able to
take it home to share with their family what they learned in class.
Materials and process
These materials will be provided by the teacher
for each student.
o a Ziplock plastic lunch bag
o color markers (e.g. Sharpie Permanent
Markers or any non-erasable markers)
o water
o blue food coloring (optional)
o packing tape
Independent Practice
Once students are done with the craft
activity, each kid will receive some
induvial templates to solve on their own
about the topic they just learned in class.

closure
To finish the lesson students will have
the opportunity to mention what part of
the lesson they like the most and share
what they learned with the rest of the
class. And at the same time help me
evaluate the lesson trough kid’s
participation.
