This document is a presentation from the Faculty of Engineering of Installations at the Technical University of Cluj Napoca in Romania. It introduces air conditioning, including a brief history noting the first modern unit was invented in 1902. It describes the main types of air conditioning systems: window, split, and central. It explains how air conditioning works by altering properties of air through a refrigerant cycle to create more favorable indoor conditions for health and comfort.

• Introduction • History • Types of air conditioning • How does it work? INTRODUCTION.
Air conditioning is a process of
altering the properties of air to more favorable conditions. The control of these conditions may be desirable to maintain the health and comfort of the ocupants History
Did you know that?
In 1902, the first modern electrical air
conditioning unit was invented by Willis Carrier in Buffalo, New York. These particular air conditioner stared working on 17 July 1902. TYPES OF AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS
1. Window air-conditioning system
2. Split air-conditioning system 3. Central air-conditioning system Windows Air-conditioning System
. Window air conditioners are one of the
most commonly used and cheapest type of air conditioners . Windows air-conditioner units are reliable and simple to install solution to keep a room cool while avoiding the costly construction of a central system Windows Air-conditioning System Split Air-Conditioning System
. The split air conditioner comprises of two parts:
the outdor unit and the indoor unit. . The outdor unit, fited outside the room, houses components like the compressor, condenser, fan and radiator. . The inside unit witch costs in a fan and cooling coil with reglable fan speed and temperature control so you can adjust like whatever you like the most. Split Air-Conditioning System Central air-conditioning system How does it work?
As the liquid refrigerant inside the evaporator
coil converts to gas, heat from the indoor air is absorbed into the refrigerant, thus cooling the air as it passes over the coil. The indoor unit's blower fan then pumps the chilled air back through the home's ductwork out into the various living areas. End of presentation!
