ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY

LEVEL I
• ALWAYS : Siempre
• FREQUENTLY frecuentemente
• GENERALLY en general
• HARDLY EVER prácticamente nunca
• INFREQUENTLY con poca frecuencia
ADVERBS OF • NEVER nunca
FREQUENCY • NORMALLY normalmente
• OCCASIONALLY ocasionalmente
With the present simple, we often use
adverbs of frequency to say 'how often' • OFTEN con frecuencia
we do something. Here's a list of common • RARELY poco frecuentemente
adverbs:
• REGULARLY regularmente
• SELDOM raramente
• SOMETIMES algunas veces
• USUALLY normalmente
ADVERBS OF
FREQUENCY
We usually put these adverbs in the middle of the sentence, between the
subject and the verb.
• I often go to the cinema.
• She sometimes visits me at home.
• We usually drink coffee.

We can also put them at the very beginning or end of the sentence.
This makes them stronger.
• Often I go to the cinema.
• I go to the cinema often.
• But never: I go often to the cinema.
Adverbs of frequency go after the verb be.

He is never late.

In negative sentences the adverb of frequency goes after don’t/doesn’t:

•We don’t often go to bed late.
•He doesn’t always agree with me.

In questions, adverbs of frequency go after the subject.

•Is he always late?
•Do they often go to the library?
