EXOGENIC PROCESSES

RICHEL JOY N. PANIM

SUBJECT TEACHER
Exogenic Processes
-is the progression that
happen when the weathered materials are transported by the
different agents from one place to another and will settle
down in a particular area.
3 Types of Exogenic Processes

1. WEATHERING
2. EROSION
3. DEPOSITION
WEATHERING
Is the process of disintegration(physically &
decomposition(chemically) of rocks.

A process of breaking down rocks into small

particles such as sand, clay and other fragments.
2 TYPES OF WEATHERING

1. MECHANICAL/PHYSICAL
WEATHERING
2. CHEMICAL WEATHERING
MECHANICAL/PHYSICAL WEATHERING

Is the breakdown of rocks into pieces without

any change in its composition.
FACTORS THAT AFFECTS
MECHANICAL/PHYSICAL WEATHERING
1. Pressure- forces
2. Temperature-high/low temp cause expansion of rocks
3. Frost Wedging -
4. Abrasion
5. Organic Activity
6. Human Activities
7. Burrowing
ORGANIC ACTIVITY
HUMAN ACTIVITY
CHEMICAL WEATHERING

changes in the compositionof rocks due to the

chemical reactions.
FACTORS THAT AFFECTS CHEMICAL
WEATHERING
1. Dissolution
2. Hydrolysis
3. Oxidation
EROSION

Is the separation & removal of weathered rocks

due to different agents like water, wind and
glaciers that causes transportation of material to
where they are deposited.
DEPOSITION

Is the
 Is theprocess in which the weathered materials

carried out by erosion settle down in a particular

location .
