POINT OF SALE SYSTEM

• A point-of-sale (POS) system is a hardware and software combination that allows

businesses to accept payments from customers and keep track of sales. POS
systems typically include a cash register, a barcode scanner, and a receipt printer.
They may also include a credit card reader, a customer display, and a loyalty card
reader.

• The system environment of 7-Eleven POS is designed to be scalable and secure.

The cloud-based architecture allows 7-Eleven to easily add new stores to the
system and to upgrade the software as needed. The system is also protected by a
variety of security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and
data encryption.
SYSTEM ENVIRONMENT

• The system environment of 7-Eleven POS is a cloud-based system that uses NEC's
TWINPOS G5100 POS hardware. The software is hosted on NEC's servers and is
accessed by the POS terminals through the internet. This allows 7-Eleven to
centrally manage the POS system and to provide real-time data to store
managers.

HOW DOES THE INFORMATION SYSTEM HELP
THE BUSINESS?
• 2017: 7-Eleven used its POS system to track sales data and identify that sales were
typically highest in the morning and evening. This information was used to adjust
staffing levels and ensure that there were enough cashiers on hand to handle the
increased traffic.
• 2018: 7-Eleven used its POS system to track inventory levels and identify that
several products were running low. This information was used to reorder the
products before they ran out, which prevented stockouts and kept customers
happy.

number of customers were interested in healthy snacks. This information was
used to stock more healthy snacks in the stores, which appealed to customers and
