* Explain the Case studies
TEAM FORMATION
A) INTRODUCTION

The students are required to form a group (maximum 4-5 persons) to work on an assignment, case studies, project and also
presentation typically for Special Topic in SW Engineering (STSE) activities. Each group will define a problem in the
assignment or any suggested STSE case studies and specify the goal of its STSE project. Students may also choose their own
topic areas after discussing with and granted by the lecturer/instructor.

B) OBJECTIVES :
This STSE subject requires a group work that requires planning, analysing, and designing a business system development based
upon the technical knowledge that you had acquired from the learning sessions. In addition, all members of the group are
required to play roles to organize and develop the STSE solution or STSE project proposal including the scope and
functionality (precisely describe the overview of the SW/ system or application to be analyzed and planned, STSE project
development and management (describe how your group have to manage the STSE project by constructing STSE frameworks
or models, and STSE project implementation/deployment plan.

PLEASE FORM YOUR TEAM AND PROVIDE THE TEAM NAME AND TEAM MEMBER NAME LIST BY 28/3/2023
IT Architecture principle
• An Architecture Principle is a statement that guides how requirements
need to be considered. It justifies decisions and provides guidelines
for the build of the architecture and solution. The definition of the
architecture principles are driven by the business strategy and
objectives and they restrict and limits how the architecture is designed
while ensuring its requirements are met.
• Architecture principles define the underlying general rules and guidelines for
the use and deployment of all IT resources and assets across the
enterprise. They reflect a level of consensus among the various elements of the
enterprise, and form the basis for making future IT decisions.
IT Architecture principle
In IT Architecture,
Architecture Principles
are important statements
that prescribe the
architectural structure of
any IT system we build.
They ensure that the
architecture defined is
consistent, coherent and
efficient
IT Architecture principle
The 10 most common IT Architecture
principles below:
1.Reuse before buy, buy before build
2.Design with business perspective
3.Architecture Components are centralized
4.Access to IT systems is authenticated and
authorized
5.Application Development is standardized
6.IT solutions are scalable
7.Front-end is separated from back-end
8.All components have clear ownership
9.Data is provided and maintained by source
10.Reporting and analytical applications do
not use operational environment
Discussion
What do you think should be the IT Architecture principle in
choosing the right technology and platform?
Possible Answer:
• Skills availability
1. Cost drivers –Reuse before buy, buy
before build, IT solutions are scalable • Third party products and
services availability
2.Industry drivers – Architecture • Standards and
Components are centralized, Access to methodology fit
IT systems is authenticated and
authorized, Application Development is • Business strategy
standardized
• Functional/Business/User
requirements
3. Customer and business drivers -
Design with business perspective • Timeliness
• Life expectancy
• Tangible cost
