HOW TO APPROACH

GRAMMAR
REPORTED SPEECH
The purposes of this presentation are:

• To recall the two approaches for teaching Grammar

• To discuss about analysis of each method


INDUCTIVE APPROACH

Eg.1 Nora said, “I want to be a model.” From these examples, the learners become

Eg2 Nora said “Can I be a model?” • If the sentence type is “statement”, they

• At this time, learners have to make a small talk in


pairs. And make the presentation about their friend

DEDUCTIVE APPROACH
Eg.1 Nora said, “I want to be a model.”
RULES FOR “REPORTED SPEECH” Ans: Nora said that she wanted to be a
model.

• If the sentence type is “statement”, use the linking word Eg2 Nora said, “I am beautiful.”

• Change “first person pronoun” to “Third person pronoun” Eg3 Nora said, “ I can also speak in
