What are MAGNETS?
 It is an object which attracts materials such as Iron,
Steel, Nickel, and Cobalt.
 It has 2 poles- NORTH & SOUTH.
TYPES OF MAGNETS-
There are 2 types of magnets: Natural
Magnets and Artificial Magnets.
NATURAL MAGNETS- are the magnets
made in nature. For E.g- Magnitite.
ARTIFICIAL MAGNETS- are the magnets
made by humans. They can be made by
MAGNETIC MATERIALS.
TYPES OF MATERIALS
(BASED ON MAGNETS)

MAGNETIC MATERIALS- are those


which are attracted by a magnet. They
can be converted into magnets.
NON-MAGNETIC MATERIALS- are
those which are not attracted by a
magnet. They can’t be converted into
magnets.
C MPASS
o A COMPASS is an instrument
to find directions at a place.
It has a tiny magnetised
needle which can rotate on a
pivot. The needle always
comes to rest in NORTH-
SOUTH direction. It works
