INTRODUCTION

 Brake is mechanical device which retards the motion of the vehicle .

 Electromagnetic braking system is operate electrically but transmit
the torque mechanically.
 This is why they used to refers to as electro _mechanical brakes.
Working Principle

 The working Principle of electro magnetic brakes is based on the creation of magnetic
field with in a Creation of magnetic field with a magnetic disc rotating between two
electro magnets , which set up a force opposing the rotation of the disc.
Working

 It works on the Principle of Creation of electro magnetic field Within Metal disc rotating
With two electromagnets.
 In this type of electrominagnrtic system the electromagnets is fixed in the back plates in
this way unequal opposite braking effect on the shoe are balanced.
 A typically reader consists of rotor and Stator the stator holds typical 16 holding coil ,
engaged speretly in four group.
 The coil made up wormnished aluminum wire .It works the electromagnetic field
creation.
Advantages

 No friction
 Less noise
 Simple in design
 High degree of safety
 Low maintenance requirements
Disadvantages

 High better power required

 The breaking is not smooth one
 Veey tough design
 Less velocity
Electromagnetic braking system
Application

 Already in use under the rail way System.

 Can be used any road vehicle .
 Equally applicated by heavy and light vehicle.
 It is used for air craft
Type

1. Single face brake

2. Power off brake
3. Practical brake
4. Hysteresis power brake
