The Role of YOUTH in COMMUNITY ACTION
YOUTH - defines youth as the critical period in a
person’s growth and development from the onset of
adolescence toward the peak of mature, self-reliant,
and responsible adulthood comprising the
considerable sector of the population from the age 15
to 30 years old. (Nation-Building Act of 1995 (RA 8044))
- The World Health Organization, on the other hand,
defines youth to be those between 15 to 24 years old.
The Philippine Constitution states, “The State recognizes the
vital role of the youth in nation-building and shall protect
their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-
being (Article II, Section 13).”
The youth are a vital resource of the community. They are
not only a dynamic foundation of community force but are
also considered as community change agents. They are
considered as forerunners of social transformation and
remain as an essential asset of the community because of
their creativity, resourcefulness, and keenness.
Responsibilities of the Youth
Strive to lead an upright virtuous life
in accordance with the tenets of law.
Love, respect and obey his parents.
Develop his potentialities for service
particularly by undergoing a formal
education.
Respect the customs and traditions
of our people.
Responsibilities of the Youth
Respect the memories of our heroes.
Respect the laws of our country and the
principles and institutions of
democracy.
Participate actively in the promotion of
the general welfare.
Help in the promotion of individual
rights and the strengthening of
freedom.

want to happen in your community. 3
things that you want to change or
improve for the betterment of your
community. You are going to discuss
each item you identify.

Direction:
With the same group, create a program/project that you think it will address to the
present societal issues or that are necessary in your community. You can intend
your project/program to environment, agriculture, economics, politics,
religion ,health , criminal justice etc.
 You will set your mind as if you are given opportunity to be a youth leader, you will
create or organize simple yet appropriate programs.

- Improper Waste Management in your school (Environment)
- Feeding program for Children (Health)
- Mosquito Infestation (Dengue) in your barangay (Health)

can select one either of the three.
 If you choose poster slogan, use ¼ size of white
cartolina and if you decide to compose a jingle, you
can use either Mother Tongue, Filipino or English to
express your song.
