The Steady State Theory was a cosmological model proposed in the
mid-20th century as an alternative to the Big Bang Theory. Developed
primarily by astrophysicists Hermann Bondi, Thomas Gold, and Sir
Fred Hoyle in the late 1940s, the Steady State Theory aimed to explain
the large-scale structure and expansion of the universe. However, it
has largely been superseded by the widely accepted Big Bang Theory.
here are the 5 key features of the Steady State
Theory:
1. CONTINUOUS CREATION
One of the central tenets of the
Steady State Theory was the
concept of continuous creation.
It posited that new matter is
constantly being created to
maintain a constant density in
the universe. This creation of
matter was thought to occur in
the gaps left by the expansion of
the universe.
2. INFINITE AGE
The Steady State Theory
suggested that the universe
had no specific beginning or
end. It proposed an infinite age
for the universe, implying that
it has always existed in a
similar state without any
singular event like the Big
Bang.
3. Perfect Cosmological Principle
The theory adhered to the
Perfect Cosmological Principle,
which states that the large-scale
properties of the universe are
uniform and isotropic at all
times. In other words, the
universe is homogenous and
looks the same from any
vantage point at any given time.
4. No Need for Initial Singularity
