SIMPLE PAST TENSE

DEFENITION
Simple past tense verbs—
also called past simple or
preterite—show action
that occurred and was
completed at a particular
time in the past.
FUNGTION
The function of the simple past tense is
to indicate an action, event, or state
that began and concluded in the past,
for example, “I was happy last night.” It
allows you to describe things that have
happened in the past and differentiate
them from the present or future.
FORMULA
● Positive: Subject + verb 2.
Negative: Subject + did not +
present verb/verb 1,
Interrogative: Did + subject +
present verb/verb 1 + ?
EXAMPLE
