CHAPTER I
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The main objective of the study is to determine whether the utilization of online
references significantly affects the learning abilities of 12 – STEM students of Mariveles
National High School – Camaya Campus on their Physics Class S.Y. 2018-2019.

Specifically, this study seeks to find answers to the statistically constructed questions
numbered below.
1. How do the test results of the students, after having the intervention, vary with one
another?
2. How do the test results of the students in control group vary with one another?
3. How dispersed, from the mean, are the post test scores of the treated students in a
frequency distribution?
4. How dispersed are the post test scores of the control group in a frequency distribution
from the mean?
5. Is there a significant difference between the scores of the treatment group and the control group

HYPOTHESIS
For the research questions presented, here are the overall hypotheses to be tested in the study.

Ho – The utilization of online references has no significant effect on the learning abilities of the
STEM students in Mariveles National High School – Camaya Campus in their Physics class.
Ha – The utilization of online references has a significant effect on the learning abilities of the
STEM students in Mariveles National High School – Camaya Campus in their Physics class

CHAPTER III
RESEARCH DESIGN
The research incorporates pre-experimental research design, specifically the static group
comparison pre-experimental design which guided the study for it served as the blueprint
in accomplishing the write-ups of the paper. In using the static group comparison type of
pre-experimental research design, two groups are chosen, one receives the treatment and
the other does not. A post-test score is then determined to measure the difference, after
treatment, between the two groups. This design does not necessarily involve pre-testing
and therefore any difference between the two groups prior to the treatment are yet
unknown. The difference between the two groups will only be determined after the
treatment.
POPULATION AND SAMPLING
The study was conducted in Mariveles National High School – Camaya Campus since
the selected population was the Grade 12 STEM students of the mentioned school. Forty
students were selected in the process through cluster sampling and simple random
sampling. Cluster sampling was performed because the two sections of the mentioned
strand consisted of unequal population so to give them equal chances of being one of the
subjects in the experiment, the researchers did so. The selected individuals were then
randomly grouped into two each with 20 individuals as respondents
MATERIAL ACQUISITION
The materials used in this study were online websites and learning references
related to teaching and learning the field of physics. The online sites will be
searched and picked by the researchers.
On the other hand, the exam that will be used in the experiment will be
created by the researchers and will be validated by a registered physics
teacher at Mariveles National High School-Camaya Campus
Preparation of the Online References

The online references will come from internet. The researcher will first
search for online sites that discuss or teaches physics lessons. The sites
will then be checked and validated by the
researchers together with their physics teacher to ensure its capability to
teach physics and its reliability. After thorough reading, the researcher
will then pick sites that pass their designated qualifications.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The two groups will be placed in two different rooms at the same time to
ensure that there will be no leakage of the exam. The room 1 will be
composed of 20 students that learned physics through online references
while the room 2 will be composed of 20 students that did not took the
online references. They will be given 1 hour to finish the five-item test
DATA ANALYSIS PROCEDURE
The researchers used statistical analysis in analysing the interpretation and validation of
the data. The post-test score of the students from the assessment conducted will be used
for analysing and testing the hypothesis in determining the effects of utilizing online
references on
learning abilities in physics class of the students by getting the results using mean and
statistical treatment. The researchers will use Mann-Whitney Test to evaluate the data.
It is a non-parametric test that is used to compare two sample population which is the
group A and group B, and used to test whether two group means are significant or not
QUESTIONAIRE
Write your solution on the back of the paper and box your final answer. Thank You.

1. Work Done on a Crate.

A 50kg crate is pulled 40m along a horizontal floor by a constant force exerted by a person, Fp=100N,
which acts at a 37o angle. The floor is rough and exerts a friction force (Ffr) of 50N. Determine the work
done by each force acting on the crate and the net work done on the crate.

2. Dot Product.
If the magnitudes of two forces are |a|=3, |b|=2, and the angle between them is
equal to 60o, what is the dot product of vectors p= a+3b and q= 5a – 3b?

3. Work Energy Principle.

How much work is required to accelerate a 1000kg car from 20m/s to 30m/s?

4. Work on a Backpack.
(a) Determine the work a hiker must do on a 15.0 kg backpack to carry it up a hill
of height(h) 10.0 m. Determine also (b) the work done by gravity on the
backpack, and (c) the net work done on the backpack. For simplicity, assume
the motion is smooth and at constant velocity (there is negligible acceleration.

5. Kinetic Energy and Work Done on a Baseball.

A 145g baseball is thrown with a speed of 25m/s. (a.) What is its kinetic energy?
(b) How much work was done on the ball to make it reach this speed, if it started
from rest?
