What is Intellectual Property (IP)?

Refers to the creation of the mind such as invention, literary


and artistic works, designs and symbols, names and images
used in commerce which are PROTECTED BY LAW.
What is Plagiarism?

It is presenting/claiming someone else’s work or ideas as


your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it
into your work without full acknowledgement.
REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8293

An act prescribing the INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY


CODE and establishing the intellectual property office,
providing for its powers and functions, and for other
purposes.
What is CITATION?

It is a way of acknowledging the works of other people that


we used in our study. We cite or mention the ideas or concept
that we borrowed in crafting our works.
What are the key elements in citing?

• Name of the author


• Title of the work
• Name and location of the publisher
• Published date
• Page number of the material
American Psychological Association (APA)

APA is the style of documentation of sources used by the


American Psychological Association. This form of writing
research papers is used mainly in the social sciences, like
psychology, sociology, as well as education and other fields.
Modern Language Association (MLA)

MLA is the style of documentation of sources used by for


writing literature and related subjects like history, language,
theater or film.
