INTRODUCTION
 There are natural fibers, as well as man-made fibers. The natural fibers have been around for
centuries and with every progressive step that fashion world is taking, the demand for
conventional fabric.

 Fibers extracted from banana or jute bark, from palm or screw pine leaves, from seeds of cotton,
from sikki or madhurkati grass, from cocoons of insects, are well-liked.

 Examples of natural fibers are

i. Sugarcane fiber.
ii. Jute fiber.
SUGARCANE FIBRE

• Sugarcane is natural plant fibre,

which collect from the sugarcane
plant. mainly sugarcane fibre is
called bagasse.
• Bagasse is fibrous material that
remains after sugarcane are
crushed to exact their juice from
sugarcane. It is dry pulp residue
left the extraction of juice from
sugarcane.
Use of Sugarcane Fiber
• Sugarcane fiber is used as raw material in the clothing
industry to make textile rayon fiber at a low cost.
• Disposal tableware and bowls are being made by using
sugarcane fiber.
• Recycled sugarcane fiber is being used in paper and
board making industries owing to its availability and
cost effectiveness.
JUTE FIBER
• Jute is a natural fiber popularly
known as the “Golden Fiber”.
• Jute fibers comes from the steam
of a herbaceous annual plant
“Corchorus”.
• Jute is one of the most affordable
natural fibers and second only to
cotton in the amount produced and
variety of uses.
• Jute fibers are composed primarily
of plant materials cellulose and
lignin.
 Uses of Jute Fiber
• Jute is used chiefly to make cloth for wrapping
bales of raw cotton, and to make sacks and
coarse cloths.
• The fibers are also woven into curtains, chair
coverings, carpets, area rugs, hessian cloth, and
backing for linoleum.
• Jute can be used to create a number of fabrics
such as Hessian cloth, sacking, scrim, carpet
backing cloth (CBC), and canvas.
• While jute is being replaced by synthetic
materials in many of these uses, some uses take
advantage of jute’s biodegradable nature, where
synthetics would be unsuitable
