EVIDENCE-BASED
REPORT (EBR)
Purpose of EBR
• The Evidence Based Report is an all-
encompassing report to present systemic
programmes and interventions over and
above the normal teaching and learning
programmes that were employed by the DBE
and Provinces since 2014 when the Class of
2016 cohort started Grade 10 to bring about
improvements in learner performance.
Focus of EBR
• The focus in all these interventions will be the direct or
indirect impact of these interventions on the Class of
2016.
• There has been no standardised assessment across all
provinces during these intervals which could be used
as a valid indicator of improvement in learner
performance.
• Therefore, the actual impact of the interventions would
be measured and reported in terms of improved learner
performance in the 2016 NSC quarterly examinations.
