NUMBERS
There are two main types of numbers:

1. Cardinal Numbers - 1 (one), 2 (two) etc. (Used mainly for counting)

2. Ordinal Numbers - 1st (first), 2nd (second) etc.


(Used mainly for putting things in a sequence)

CARDINAL NUMBERS
are normally used when you:

I have two brothers. There
are thirty-one days in January.

• GIVE YOUR AGE:


I am thirty-three years old.
My sister is twenty-seven years old.

• GIVE YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER:


Our phone number is two-six-three,

• GIVE YEARS:
She was born in nineteen seventy-five (1975).
America was discovered in fourteen ninety-two (1492).

We talk about years like this:

Before the year 2000: el número se divide en dos cifras

We write the date in English in different ways.
The most common way in British English is to write the
day of the month first, then the month (starting with a capital letter)
and then the year:

20 January 1993
14 November 2005

We can also write the date in numbers only:

20 January 1993 = 20/1/1993


14 November 2005 = 14–11–2005 or 14.11.05

Sometimes the last two letters of the number as


spoken can be used (th, rd, st, nd):

Today is the 7th September.


The grand opening is on 1st June. or … on June 1st.

With the exception of May and June, months can be shortened as follows:

Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, Jul, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec.

Subject Pronoun
A subject pronoun is exactly what it sounds like: a pronoun that takes
the place of a noun as the subject of a sentence. The sentence’s
subject is the person or thing that performs the action of a verb.

+ Object pronoun
An object pronoun is a type of personal pronoun that is
normally used as a grammatical object, either as the direct
or indirect object of a verb, or as the object of a preposition.
+ Los pronombres personales funcionan como sujeto, así que usualmente
aparecen en primera posición, antes del verbo. Sin embargo, los pronombres de
objeto se colocan siempre detrás del verbo o de una preposición. Por ejemplo,
en la frase I love you (Te quiero), I es el pronombre personal y you es
el pronombre de objeto.

Possessive adjective

 Possessive adjectives are used to show possession or ownership of


something.

Like all adjectives in English, they are always located
before the noun they refer to.

Examples:

 Her boyfriend is very friendly.

 Our dog is black.

 Their homework is on the table.

Possessive pronoun
Possessive pronouns show that something belongs to
someone.
