2. Solution Introduction – Why

Background & Pain Points Key Reliance

 C-band allocation at some sites is too slow to catch  Wuyi and Kunlun RRUs evolve to support NR FDD.
up with the 5G progress.  The HiSilicon Balong 5000 C20 supports NR FDD.
 The sub-1 GHz spectrum in Europe is idle.
 C-band provides weak coverage in high frequency
bands and requires more site deployment costs.

Scenarios & Benefits

 FDD offering the first 5G frequency band helps

build brands for customers.
 Sub-1 GHz helps build low-cost 5G coverage
layers in low frequency bands.

2. Solution Introduction – Overview
• FDD SSB beams: wide beam
sending (see the figure on the
right). TDD uses 7 or 8 narrow
beams for SSB sending.

2. Solution Introduction – Overview
2T:
 Hardware:
- The antenna and RRU are not involved in reconstruction.
- The NR-capable baseband processing units UBBPg2 and UBBPg3 are added. The NR-capable main
control boards UMPTe2 and UMPTg2 are used for replacement. Whether NR shares baseband processing
units and main control boards with LTE depends on product line policies.
 Software: Software upgrade is needed.

2. Solution Introduction – Overview
4T:
 Hardware:
- Integrated 4T4R RRU: The NR codebook structure requires that port 0 and port 1 be
in the same polarization direction, and port 2 and port 3 be in the same polarization
direction. In 20A, by default, port 0, port 1, port 2, and port 3 are mapped to TRX A,
TRX B, TRX C, and TRX D of the integrated RRU, respectively. Therefore, the
antenna and RRU must be connected based on connections shown in the right
figure.
Note: TRX A, TRX B, TRX C, and TRX D of the integrated RRU are arranged in the
ACDB sequence. The function of configuring the mapping between ports 0 to 3 and
TRXs A to D can be added later. Therefore, the preceding connection requirements
are not required.
- 2T2R combined with 4T4R: Similarly, the 20A version requires the connections
shown in the right figure. The connections are required when phase difference
stability within an RRU is used for phase compensation between polarization
directions or air interface coupling is used for channel calibration.
- The NR-capable baseband processing units UBBPg2 and UBBPg3 are added. The
NR-capable main control boards UMPTe2 and UMPTg2 are used for replacement.
Whether NR shares baseband processing units and main control boards with LTE
depends on product line policies.
 Software: Software upgrade is needed.

The neighboring cell SSB can be measured. The neighboring cell SSB may not be measured.

NR FDD networking requires time synchronization (GPS or 1588v2) to avoid inter-site neighboring cell measurement
faults. In the future, NR FDD will share the same site and clock with TDD C-band.
