The project includes building a High tension panel room(HT Panel Room), Utility
block, Rain water harvesting system, sump room, dining area and altering an
existing structure.
A total of 4 contractors were working on this project

• Wearing helmets is a must when on site. Because there can be chances
when any objects can fall from height that can cause serious injuries.
• Safety jackets and shoes are provided to everyone. Safety jackets will be
helpful when the work is going on during the night. It provides a good
visibility when light flashes on it.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) given were
● Helmet
● Jacket
● Safety shoes
● Gloves
● Glasses
● Safety belt
• Wearing of mask all the time is mandatory

Once the lintel beam was cured and The safety officer doing checks whether
masonry was done up to the slab level. the safety precautions are taken or not.

• Once the PCC was cured, the footing Binding wires were used to tie
mats were laid. the column to the footing mat.
• Clear cover blocks were used to
provide the necessary clear cover.

After the footing is ready, the column has to be raised.
But it is not possible to shutter all 6 columns and make
sure they are aligned. So the surveyor using a total
station gives points on all 6 footings from where the
column has to start and from where the shuttering has to
be given.

After the points are given, shuttering is not directly given to the entire
column. Instead first a starter is constructed over that, the column starts.

After the column is cured, the soil is
backfilled. And excavation is done for
plinth beam. Even for plinth beam,
PCC is provided. Once the PCC is laid
for the plinth beam, reinforcements
are kept on it. And shuttering is given
for plinth beam

The shutter of the plinth beam is Again the surveyor gives points for
removed. Curing the plinth beam of the column. Starter is again laid and
the trench room is done for 3 days. shuttering of column up to the lintel
level.

After the plinth beam is ready, shuttering work starts. With help of formwork, the
column is erected up to the half wall level. M25 grade of concrete was used for
columns. Once the concrete is dried, shutter is removed and curing of column is done.

FIRE AND SUMP ROOM
While the work of trench room was
going on, on the other side of the site,
excavation for the fire and sump room
was going on. A Tata Hitachi was used.

Trench: It is the part of the HT panel room, where the cables would run.
Excavation for the trench was done using a JCB.

● After curing the PCC, reinforcement work is carried out,
● U - shaped bars - #10mm dia @ 150mm c/c
● Straight bars - #8mm dia @200mm c/c
● U - shaped bars and straight bars are run perpendicular to
each other.

• For connecting the HT cables to the panel room, hume pipes were required.
The HT cables would run through the hume pipes. The hume pipes join the
transformer.
• First excavation is done.
• After excavation the hume pipes are laid.

• This internship gave us an opportunity to understand the concepts that we had learnt
in the college in a practical way.
