Board Retreat 2013:
Rationalisation of core operations –The Board advises UTM management team to merge
academic programmes, research groups, Centres of Excellence (CoEs), faculties and
Research Alliances (RAs) in collating overlapping objectives and operations, which would lead
to greater resource optimisation in the future. The Board is informed that the university has thus
far reduced the number of academic programmes offered at undergraduate levels in respective
faculties and further implementation in the near future will concentrate on research groups and
Centres of Excellence (CoEs).
