What are standards

About ISO:

•Non-governmental organization[NGO] established


in 1947, based in Geneva, Switzerland
•It is the world’s largest developer of voluntary

international standards, based on global and


market relevance
•over a million organizations in 187 countries have

adopted it as their QMS standard.


What is ISO 9001 and it’s purpose:
It is a business management tool that provides an
internationally recognized baseline applied to any
type of organization. The standard is used by
organizations to demonstrate their ability to
consistently provide products and services that
meet customer and regulatory requirements, and to
demonstrate continuous improvement.
ISO helps change the focus of the organization
from “fire fighting” the latest problem, to sustained
improvement based on “real” information.
