14th January 2013 Dear Parent/Guardian Due to failure of the heating system I have decided that there will

be no school for pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Work for these pupils will be provided via the school website (www.afontaf.merthyr.sch.uk) and parents are requested to encourage their child(ren) to access this work. Work undertaken at home is to be brought into school on the pupils return. Pupils in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 are to attend school, prepared to follow their normal timetable. It is essential that these pupils attend lessons. Information regarding the situation will be available on the school website on Wednesday afternoon; should it be necessary to extend the closure the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council website will also be updated. I apologise for the inconvenience to parents, however the decision has been taken in the best interests of pupils and staff. Yours sincerely,
