Rules of the Challenge


Gather into your Survivor Tribes A "Survivor" Related Math Question will be placed on the Polyvision. You will have a certain amount of time to answer the question on YOUR OWN (time varies depending on question). Lose 5 pesos for each time one is off task. Then, you will have 1-2 minutes to converse with your tribe for the following To come up with an answer that everyone agrees with. To "vote off" one person to write the answer on your teams whiteboard in the front of room. Everyone must have one turn getting voted off before someone goes twice Correct answers=Pesos Wrong Answers=Pesos for other teams

Question #1
Immunity items must be decided between tribes. There are a total of 3 options. The first option is either bringing a Pencil, Colored Pencil, or a Pen. The second choice that must be made is either bringing a Book, a Survival Guide, or a Computer (without Wireless). Finally, the 3rd and final choice includes either bringing Snacks or Spring Water. -For 15 million pesos, make a tree diagram of that shows all of the possibilities!

Question #2 Using the Tree Diagram from the Previous Problems: What is the probability of a team selecting a pen? (For 7 Million Pesos)

Question #3 Use the Probability Tree from Question #1 What is the probability of having a pencil, a computer, and snacks? (For 9 Million Pesos)

Question #4 Use the Tree Diagram from Question #1 again: What is the probability of getting a Pen or a Survival Guide? (For 10 million Pesos)

Question #5
-There is an Immunity Challenge between 2 teams. In order to go decides who goes first, a team must flip a Franc (Madgascar Coin). One side is a Bulls Head. The other side is a flower. The coin will be flipped 2 times. In order to go first, you must flip a Bulls Head on both coin flips. If you don't, the other team wins. What are the odds of going first (fraction or percent)? (6 million pesos) -Is this fair? (2 million pesos).

Instead of using a coin, a special Mediterranean Dice is being used. The dice has 6 sides, numbered from 1-6. In order to go first, your tribe must roll an odd number. If an even number is rolled, the other tribe gets to go first. What are the odds of your tribe going first? (5 million pesos) Would this game be fair? (2 million pesos)

Throughout Africa, rocks are collected from along the Nile River. Each of them are the same size, but they are different colors. There are a total of 50 rocks inside the bag. 28 are brown, 10 are gray, 8 are blue, and 4 are green. In order to win the Immunity Challenge, your tribe must draw a Brown rock. If you draw any other color, your tribe get ambushed (Uhoh!) What are the odds of drawing a brown rock (percent)? (6 million pesos) Are you likely, equally likely, or unlikely to

Ambush Question!
If your tribe gets the question correct you survive and gain 35 pesos! Otherwise, the 35 pesos are given to the other two tribes.

Ambush Question!
The Mediterranean Dice is used again! The dice is from 1-6. In order to avoid being ambushed by the other tribe, you must roll a number that is a factor of 12. What are your odds of surviving? Can be in a fraction (must be REDUCED) or percent! Also answer: Are you likely to survive? Is this fair (in Mathematical Terms)?

Question #9
In Season 1 of Survivor, there were a total of 15 members who were in the cast. In Season 4 of Survivor, there were a total of 20 members in the cast. There were 4 members who were in both the Season 1 cast and Season 4 cast. Make a Venn Diagram based off this data! (For a total of 9 pesos)

Using the Venn Diagram from the previous question, how many contestants only competed on Season 1 of Survivor? (5 pesos)

Using the Venn Diagram from Question #12, how many total contestants competed on Season 4 of Survivor? (5 pesos)

Which Tribe is the Ultimate Math Survivor?


-Gamble as many of your pesos that you have as you want (bid cannot exceed the total amount of pesos that you have). -Make bids under your teams board.

The Final Question


The average season of Survivor takes approximately 40 days. If there are 20 contestants on a season of Survivor, what are the chances that you make it to the final day as an Ultimate Survivor? (Answer in Fraction or Percentage)
