NOTE: SMALL, HEAVY (3 - 5 PPG over Mud Wt.) SLUGS WORK BEST
(PAGE DOWN FOR INSTRUCTIONS) This program calculates the following: 1. Weight of Slug to be mixed. 2.Vol. of mud displaced out of the annulus (flow back) by the 'U' tubing of the slug.
NOTE:
1.The numbers show in RED are variables and may be altered to see how they effect the calculations.
2. Pump SLUG, then open Standpipe bleed off valve, rotate pipe without reciprocating until indicated flow back volume (APPROX.) is observed in Trip Tank BEFORE PULLING PIPE.
3. The numbers calculated here are theoretical and do not take into account friction caused by high viscosity, or restrictions in the string which may inhibit the slugs ability to dry the pipe. In these cases a heavier, or larger slug, should be pumped using these calculations as a guideline.
