    Lesson 4-6a: Solving Rational Equations


    Rational Equations - An equation that contains a ratio of polynomials To solve rational equations, we want to first get rid of the fractions... 1) Factor any factorable denominators 2) Multiply each term by the LCD (one at a time) to cancel out the denominators. You are done this step when all your denominators are cancelled: aka equal 1!
    LCD the smallest denominator that can be used for all the ratios

    3) Solve the polynomial equation 4) Verify that solutions don't result in denominator = 0
