LITERACY Retelling stories, including key details, and demonstrate understanding of their central message or lesson. Asking and answering questions about what they read! Explaining major differences between books that tell stories and books that give information, drawing on a wide reading of a range of text types. (Non-fiction vs. fiction) Knowing and applying grade-level phonics and high frequency words. STUDENTS ARE NEEDING A LOT OF PRACTICE IN WRITING THEIR WORD WALL WORDS, AND USING PHONICS SKILLS FOR DICTATION ON FRIDAY!!! We will also discuss nouns, verbs, and adjectives. MATH Practicing counting to 120, and representing, writing, and reading numbers up to 100. Solving word problems by adding and subtracting within 10. Understanding subtraction as an unknownaddend problem. For example, subtract 10 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8. Understanding place value in the tens and ones positions. For example: 23 can be thought of as 2 bundles of 10 and 3 ones or singles.
