Round I (Elimination round)

The Year Gone By!

20 teams will be divided in 2 groups of 10 each. Group A will be seated in the second year classroom and Group B in the First year class room. Both the classrooms will be functioning simultaneously for the first 2 rounds.

The 10 teams wills be given 12 questions and 90 seconds to answer them. The teams are supposed to mark the answers. The questions can be of any category based on the key events of 2011.

EG: Q. Who won the man of the tournament in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011? a. Shahid Afridi b. Lasith Malinga c. Yuvraj Singh d. Sachin Tendulkar

The teams are supposed to tick the correct answer. Like in this question the correct answer is option (c) Yuvraj Singh, so the teams will have to tick option (c). MARKINGS For every correct answer (+10) for every wrong answer (-5) Please note that there is negative marking in this round. Round II

From each group 5 teams with the highest scores will proceed to the second round. The teams will remain seated in the same classroom.

(A) Rapid Fire

The teams will be shot with questions for 60 seconds. The teams can answer or let go the questions as per their discretion. The teams not willing to answer the particular question would say NEXT or PASS for the next question. The categories covered in Rapid fire would be

1. Literature 2. Sports 3. Entertainment MARKINGS There is (+5) for every correct answer and no negative marking. Questions not answered or wrongly answered will NOT be considered.

(B) Direct Questions

Direct Individual questions will be asked to individual teams. The teams will be given the options to choose the questions from the categories covered in the event. The teams can answer the question or PASS the question to the other teams as per their discretion. The teams get 10 seconds to answer the question. The time begins immediately after question is completed. The teams failing to answer the question in the allotted 10 seconds, it will be passed on to the next team. The question when passed will go to the other teams to answer according to the order. The question will be considered passed only after the Quizmaster says The question is now passed. The categories covered 1. Religion and Mythology 2. Science and Technology 3. Geography MARKINGS (+10) for every correct direct question answered. (+5) for passed question answered correctly. (-5) for every question answered wrongly.

Round III (Semi-Finals)

3 teams from each group will proceed towards the semi-final rounds. All the 6 teams will report in Classroom B i.e the First year classroom.

(A) Visual

In this round the 6 semi-finalist teams will be shown a picture of some place/personality or event. The team to whom the question is referred answers the question or passes it to the audience.

The team gets 20 seconds to recognize the picture and answer correctly. The teams can also opt for a hint on the given picture.

MARKINGS- (+10) for every correct answer w/o the hint and (+5) for every correct answer with the help of the hint. There is no negative marking in this round.

(B) Audio

In this round the 6 semi-finalist teams will be made to hear a sound clip of 30 seconds each. The teams are suppose to recognize the clip or the answer the questions related to it. The team to whom the question is referred answers the question or passes it to the audience.

The teams can ask for a hint and also request for the second playing of the clip anytime during the allotted 25 seconds. The re-playing of the 30 sec sound clip will not be considered within the given 25 seconds to answer the question.

MARKINGS- (+10) for every correct answer w/o the hint, (+5) for every correct answer with the help of the hint and (+7) for every answer given after the second playing of the clip. There is no negative marking in this round.

( C) Video

In this round the 6 semi-finalist teams will be shown a video clip of 30 seconds each. The Video clip could consist of any famous event from history or sports or entertainment any other such category. The teams are suppose to recognize the clip or answer the questions related to it. The team to whom the question is referred answers the question or passes it to the audience.

The teams can ask for a hint and also request for the second playing of the clip anytime during the allotted 25 seconds. The re-playing of the 30 sec sound clip will not be considered within the given 25 seconds to answer the question.

MARKINGS- (+10) for every correct answer w/o the hint, (+5) for every correct answer with the help of the hint and (+7) for every answer given after the second playing of the clip. There is no negative marking in this round.

Round IV (Finals)

(A) Buzzer round

4 teams from the semi-finals will proceed for the Final round. A total of 12 questions will be asked and the team to hit the buzzer first gets to answer the question. The teams will get 5 seconds for answering the question. The time starts immediately after the buzzer is hit. The categories covered

1. International Politics 2. Historical Events 3. Miscellaneous

MARKINGS- (+10) for every correct answer and (-5) for every wrong answer. Please note there is negative marking in this round.

(B) Nail it!!

This is the last round of the quiz. The 4 teams will be given an option to choose their questions according to the marks i.e 5,10 and 20 respectively. 5 being the easiest of the three, 10 moderate and 20 harder compared to the rest three. The categories covered 1. Entertainment/Politics 2. Sports/History 3. Literature/Geography

MARKINGS-

5 Marks Question (+5) for every correct answer. No negative marking. 10 Marks Question - (+10) for every correct answer and (-5) for every wrong answer. 20 Marks Question - (+20) for every correct answer and (-10) for every wrong answer.
