Geraldine 1 Geraldine Talumewo Experiment Design Physics December 17 2013 A Property of A Falling Object Research Questions Will the

force of a falling object change when you drop it from different heights? Variables Type Independent Variable Drop height (cm) or (m) Explanation I will drop the object from different heights. (50cm, 75cm, 100cm) Dependent Force of falling object (f) I will calculate the force of the fallen object. Control Flat surface (class floor) I will use a flat surface to bounce the object on.

Geraldine 2 Background Theory A falling object has only its weight and the force due to gravity.

How to calculate force: Force = Mass x Acceleration Acceleration =

Hypothesis Potential energy is when the object is not moving because theres no force to move it. But when we drop the object from a certain height there must be force because the object is falling which is moving, and when its moving called kinetic energy. The force of a falling object with change if you drop it from different heights, but it all depends on the type of surface that we use for the testing. The energy on the ball will be greater after the bounce. Falling objects are influenced by gravity and therefore the force will change when you drop the object from different heights.
