Report for Moral Project at Kampung Chempaka

Date: 16 March 2013, Saturday Time: 9am-1pm Group Name: ACCA(STORM)& some ICAEW students Members Involved: Jonathan Heng Fuqiang, Koo Woei Hong, Brian Liaw Vun Tian, Eric Teo Zhi Yuan, Leow Teck Sheng, Leow Hui Sien, Regine Lee Sue Tine, Seng Jing Han, Soo Yee Ling, Yong Yee Jan, Ng Min Cun, Denis Lim Chee Yip, Ng Ngah Lynn, Ser Wei Ying, Gan Yee Ling, Ng Qi Xuen, Pui Ling, Magdalene, Justin, and 2 more icaew student which I had forgotten their names. __________________________________________________________________________________ On 16 March 2013, our group participates in the map drawing/drafting project organized by Generasi Gemilang. Before carrying out this project, numerous discussions took place between the General Secretary, Jeffery Lee and the committee of Generasi Gemilang. The committee even held a briefing with our class on 8th March 2013. They explain the reasons and purpose for this project is to identify the numbers of houses and shophouses in Kampung Chempaka. As they are unable to identify the number of household in the area, many event could not be held properly for they fail to inform every resident of Kampung Chempaka. By identifying the number of household in this area, they would able to carry out their activities much more successfully in the future. On 15 March 2013, preparation such as briefing and splitting my group members to their respective division to carry out the job apportion to them. As my part of the job is quite big, I had split the map into 3 parts, which every group consist 6-8 members. On the day when project the project is held, I reached Kampung Chempaka Basketball Court at 9.05am, only to discovered that only a few had arrived at the venue, which mainly a few students from our class and the Generasi Gemilang committee. I soon discovered that the bus which was meant for the students were late. They only reach at the venue at 9.30am. After settling the attendance of my group, an icebreaker was held which was mainly stretching exercise, to ensure that we are fit for the job. Then we are off to do our job, which is to draft the map of the area. I lead a group which consists of 7 members which I was assisted by Hui Ping, a member of the committee. I further split my group into subgroup to carry out the task faster. As I walk and draft the map, I discover that many parts of the city needs an upgrade, but also hope that they would preserve certain part of the area, for they signify landmarks of the area. The villagers there are friendly and ask about us. As my group finish drafting the map, my group carry out and audit on the maps of the other group, except for me, for I had to lead other group members to audit my map which I drafted. We completed the project around 12.30pm, having adequate rest and celebrating Jeffreys birthday with a photo session, we soon head back to our college.

At home, I complete the map by merging the maps which my group had drafted. I discovered that this project that we had done, we had learn more about Kampung Chempaka, which is just a small piece of our district which is undeveloped. By drafting this map, we had help Generasi Gemilang to carry out a bigger plan to assist that area. I had learned that even a small effort which had done by us could lead to a bigger effort in the future. Besides that, I also learned that careful planning and organizing of a project could lead to a successful project as my group have shown great team spirit and cooperation in order to complete the project and also the committee for making this happen.
