Summary
This study aimed at analyzing the content of research articles that were
published in the Mass Education journal (1990 2000). For this purpose the
researcher developed an instrument containing 12 categories. These categories
were the basis for the qualitative analysis. Each category included a number of
indicators that were used in the analysis process. The researcher sent the
instrument to an academic jury whom made some changes and additions to the
instrument.
A Random sample of 63 research articles were chosen out of 99 articles
which represents 83,5 % of all articles being published in the journal for the
period under investigation. After putting the research project in its final format
the researcher sent it to an academic jury to get their feedback concerning the
methodology, the content analysis mechanism, and the results. In light of their
feedback certain changes and deletions and additions were made.
The result of the study included frank remarks about the content of the
research articles being published in the Mass Education Journal, its
methodologies, its theoretical frameworks, its writing styles, its adherence to the
scientific procedures of writing research articles, its adherence to the Arab and
Islamic causes, its seriousness, and its relationship to the dimensions of
creativity and innovations.
The research project rendered recommendations to improve the quality
of the Mass Education Journal and to promote adult Education research in the
Arab world.
