*Please remember an extra pair of
shoes on gym days.

*Please remember that a crossing
guard is not on Kedvale during the
latest construction project.
Supplies
We need a few classroom supplies for the
remainder of the school year.
Girls: please bring a box of Kleenex.
Boys: please bring a container of baby
wipes. Thank you!
News

Religion: We listened to the scripture story of
Easter. We have started reading the Family Life
book for first grade. We are talking about being
part of a family. We attended the all school Mass
for Easter on Thursday morning.

Reading: We are practicing reading and following
written directions. We searched pictures for clues
and created star gazers. We read and enjoyed 2
stories in our reading textbook. We have also read
2 Flat Stanley stories. We created 2 Flat Stanleys
to send to family and friends.

Language Arts: We are identifying the parts of
speech in sentences. We are looking for nouns,
verbs, proper nouns, adjectives, and adverbs. Next
week, we will begin writing poetry.

Math: We are practicing solving addition and
subtraction problems. We reviewed the strategy of
counting on and using number lines. We practiced
solving 2 step word problems. We have started the
chapter about money. This week, we are counting
the value of sets of coins. We are using a set of
magnetic coins to name and sort groups of
pennies, dimes, and nickels.
Junior Scientists
We have started working
on our science projects.
There are 5 class
projects. The children are
working in groups of 3 or
4 students. They are
conducting experiments
and gathering data.
We will start putting
together the display
boards soon.
