News

Religion: This week we began talking about the Mass. We read the Bible story of the Last Supper. We are learning more about the parts of the church and have started practicing Mass responses.

Reminders
*No School on Monday, January 20.

Reading: We started Unit 9 of the reading series. We are working with long vowel sounds spelled with 2 vowel letters: ee, ea, oa, ai,ue and ie.
Language Arts: We wrote snowman stories. We reviewed writing sentences correctly. We read sentences and chose the ending punctuation. This week we worked on our first Daily Oral Language booklet. Using this booklet we will review and practice grammar and writing skills. Math: We are working with shapes. We have been practicing identifying solid figures: cube, sphere, cone, rectangular prism, and cylinder. Using math vocabulary, we are describing the shapes. We are naming and describing plane figures: circle, oval, square, rectangle, triangle, diamond, and pentagon. We read the story titled The Greedy Triangle. Science: We are reading about the sky this week. We read stories about the solar system, the planets and the sun.

*January Book Reports are due next week.


*Read every day. Record minutes read on the Read to Succeed log and earn a ticket to Six Flags. *Please do not climb on snow mounds outside of school or the ones in the parking lot. Students of all ages are asked not to throw snow at others.

Star of the Week


Jack was our Star this week. He brought some of his favorite things to share with us. He showed us some great photos too. His mom and dad were our guest readers this week. Jack, you are a super star!

Art Zone
This months project is very colorful. Everyone was able to explore the world of color while painting during art class. The artwork looks amazing! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers.
