Religion: This week we are talking about the

church. We read about the beginning of the church
after Jesus ascended to heaven. We read the Bible
story about the Holy Spirit coming to help the
apostles go out to teach about God and Jesus.
Reading: We are working with long vowel sounds
spelled with 2 vowel letters. We practiced adding
endings to long and short vowel base words. We
read a play in our reading text about a contest
between the sun and the wind.
Language Arts: We are working on identifying
nouns, verbs, contractions and compound words.
Math: We continued to work with related addition
and subtraction facts. We reviewed problem
solving skills. We used connecting cubes, number
lines and drawings to check our work.
Science: We read stories about the sun and the
planets. Students are working in small groups to
create a model of the solar system. The model is a
poster that shows the sun, 8 planets, the asteroid
belt and the orbits around the sun. We painted
styrofoam pieces for the sun and each planet.
Each group is writing a booklet about the planets.
