Utility Requirements

The plant utilities cover the power, water, and waste disposal system. This study
indicates the power and water requirements for machinery, office use and other day-to-day
activities. The waste disposal is layout in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulation
of the city and it consider the environmental effects to the community.
Power
Electricity is one of the primary utility requirements of a business. Books n
Blends will significantly need this for the proper and smooth flow of business
operations in order to carry out the combination of a bookstore and coffee shop as its
special feature. This will also be a huge help in setting the atmosphere of the shop for
the ambience and proper lighting.
The store electricity will be provided by the MERALCO which is the
electricity supplier of the whole Manila. We have a generator in case of emergency
brown-out and black-out.

Water
A good water supply is a must in a business once it started its operation. Since
our business has a coffee shop, water supply is a very important requirement in order
to thoroughly execute the tasks of employees, especially to the kitchen or service area
staffs.
The store water supply will be provided by SPWD (San Pedro Water District)
which is accessible within the vicinity.
Telecommunications
Telecommunication is very essential for the daily activities in our store to be
able communicate to our suppliers and customers properly. This will be very useful in
order to have a good and clear negotiation with the suppliers. Also, this may help to
communicate with our customers regarding their feedbacks and concerns that might
help to the growth and development of our business.
The telephone and internet connection will be provided by PLDT which is one
of the largest telecommunication companies in the Philippines.

Waste Disposal Management
Proper sanitation and waste management must be observed since Books n Blends is a
business that will also handle food products. In order to give our customers a hundred
satisfactions, maintenance of cleanliness in all areas of the store will be implemented.
Books n Blends will practice the following in order to maintain proper sanitation and
waste management:
1. Three trash bins with cover and proper label for segregation will be provided
inside the store. One is in the dining area and the other one is in the kitchen or
service area. The remaining one will be placed inside the office.
2. The accumulated garbage will be collected by the garbage collector in the area.
3. Clean utensils and well washed and prepared ingredients will be used.
4. Clean and proper uniform will be used by the employees during working hours to
ensure sanitation.
5. The store will be cleaned every day by the employees before the store opening,
during working hours if necessary and before store closing.
