Weekly Update
November 6th 2014

Important Notices:

There will be no spelling words or test next week as children will be re-assessed
to see if he/she has changed spelling levels.
Our field trip will be taking place the week of the 16th of November.
Permission forms and more information will be sent home early next week.
GISPA Costume Dance Party
GISPA is holding a costume party! The event is Nov 13th 2014,
from 5pm-8pm in the GIS cafeteria. This event promises to be a
lot of fun for the whole family. Including karaoke animation
game face painting, dancing, fun and food! They are currently
looking for volunteers and people to bring food. If you can

Looked at place value using base ten blocks

Explored shapes using geoboards
Began to use tally marks to collect and record data
Changed tally marks into bar graphs.
Revised telling the time.
Looked at the features of non-fiction texts
Explored how to find information in non-fiction texts.
Completed online research about natural habitats that interest us

Next week in Grade 2 we will be

Writing sentences with proper nouns as capital letters.

Using dictionaries to find the definition of words.
Using the contents, index and glossary pages to find information in a non-fiction
text.
Solving addition and subtraction number stories
Revising Unit 3
Completing Progress Check 3
Continuing our research on habitats and begin to identify human impact on these
spaces
Looking into the life of sea turtles in preparation of our upcoming field trip
