Article title: The article title is big

and bold and it on the far left side

of the two pages. The article title is
in two parts and the first consist of
two lines and is a lot smaller than
the second. The language used it
very informal goddamn and this
makes the article feel more
personal and laid-back to the
reader.

Denotation and Connotation: The denotation of the main image is a

male sitting with his legs crossed. He is holding a book in one hand and
crumpled up piece of paper in another. The male is also looking angrily
into the camera. The man has tattoos that are visible on his arms. This
could connote rebellion. The angry look on his face could also connote
rebellion or fear as typically rock music is associated with scary or angry
images of band members.

Main image: The main image fills

the whole left page and goes over a
little to the right page. The image is
a long shot as you see the person
from there had to their feet, but
they are sat down with their legs
crossed so it breaks the normal
codes and conventions. The man in
the image is holding a lyrics book
and a pull out piece of paper in his
hand. This mise-en-scene was to
show the lyrics book relates back to
the topic of the article. The
magazine has followed rule of thirds
as the hotspots lay on the main
image, a grab quote and the second
image on the page.
Colour Scheme: The colour scheme is the
same as the front cover and contents page
(red, black and white). This makes the
double page spread relate to the other
pages and makes the article feel more like
an actual magazine that is linked together.

Task 2: Analysing a double

page spread of music
magazine KERRANG!

Columns: The article consists of

three columns on the right page.
By having three columns it fills the
space on the page and leaves little
white space. The article begins
with a drop cap. This is used so
the reader knows where the
article begins.

Page numbers: At the bottom of the page in the corner there are page
numbers. This tells the reader what page they are and helps them to find a
certain article quickly and efficiently. In front of the page numbers is a
reference to the magazines name KERRANG. This links the double page
spread to the rest of the magazine.
By line: Just underneath the article titles caption there is a by line. The by line
tells the reader who took the photographs for the article.

Quotations: There are

quotations from Fall Out Boys
band members throughout the
text. These quotations tells the
reader what the band members
said and makes the article a little
more personal Me and my
buddy mark used to write books
about robots and try to sell em
door to door. By having quotes
it can also make the reader feel
like they know the band
members in some way.
