Frontcourt: D-

Mike Davis tried to shoot his way out

of a slump, but he was 4-for-15 from
the floor. Davis also had only one
rebound in the second half. Center
Mike Tisdale and forward Bill Cole
didn’t contribute much on the stat
sheet.
Backcourt: C-
Demetri McCamey got off to a fast
start as Illinois led the first 15
minutes. D.J. Richardson struggled to
slow Michigan State’s Kalin Lucas.
Bench: C
Except for maybe McCamey, forward
Tyler Griffey was the best thing the
Illini had going. The freshman set ca-
reer highs with 12 points, and his 15
minutes were one short of his career
high in nonconference play.
Overall: D
The Illini gave themselves a chance
with a strong start, but Michigan
State reminded everyone just how far
Illinois must still travel up the league
ladder. Michigan State won its fifth
straight in the series and ended Il-
linois’ undefeated run in Big Ten play.
